To the most important person who brought us into the world.

 

Mothers are the most important person in our lives and they will be forever as long as we live and breathe. Mothers have been with us since the day we were born and they raised us into becoming the greatest person we can ever be in our lives, they have been with us every step of the way. And thus, this holiday is annually celebrated for the purpose of celebrating the great doings of our mothers. 

Mothers day is celebrated on the 9^th of May to honor the woman of the family and all the mothers throughout the world. Mother’s day became a recognized holiday in 1914 in the United States which takes place on the second Sunday of May. Though the common traditions to celebrate Mother’s Day is giving flowers, baking treats giving greeting cards and gifts like, jewelry perfume cosmetics etc. And going to restaurants for lunch or dinner. But because there are many different kind of people and countries all over the world, Mother’s Day is celebrated a little bit differently because of the cultures of each country that were incorporated and later created their own versions. For example in Hindu culture, Mother's Day is called "Mata Thirta Aunshi " or "Mother Pilgrimage Fortnight", and is celebrated in countries with a Hindu population. In Thailand, it is always celebrated in August on the birthday of the current queen, Sirikit, or in Panama, it is always  December 8, when the Catholic Church honors the Virgin Mary and many other countries that have their own versions of the holiday.

 

In other words, though we may be different people living in the same world we celebrate certain holidays because there is a purpose; a purpose of celebrating certain and special people in our life that are important to us and stopping to relax and think and honor our mothers.
